If you are new to hookah shisha pipes and want to know what each part of the pipe does.
Wind Cover: Used to keep the heat in, to give a better smoke, great for outside smoking, it prevents the coal to die fast.
Bowl: Clay bowls come in a large variety of shapes and sizes, all comes as how many people are smoking, how long you want to smoke a session and personal taste.
Bowl grommet: Used to seal the bowl and stem pipe together preventing from air scaping. These look similar to the hose grommet but is the larger of the two.
Ash tray: Some people like to drop the dust collected from the charcoal onto the tray and them empty the tray when they change the tobacco in the bowl. Some people are happy just to use the tray in case some charcoal or dust drops off which the tray will catch.

Pipe stem: The metal stem is the heart and soul of the pipe, although it may not appear to have much effect on your smoke a good pipe stem will help keep your smoke cool. The depth of the stem into the bottle will have a definite effect on the quality of your smoke.
Air valve: A well machined valve helps expel the smoke with less effort when the smoke becomes to strong. A ball bearing is found in the air valve, this will need replacing when it becomes rusty or you may experience difficulty in expelling the extra smoke.
Down stem: The part that goes down the water cooling the smoke and making the bubbling sound.
Base seal: The ring seals are used between the metal stem and the bottle. These are often referred to as black seals even though they might be a different colour.
Hoses: The hookah shisha hose varies nearly as much as the finger print! Choose the right hose to make sure you don't have to replace it too often.
Hose grommet: Used to seal between the hose and the pipe stem. Often the same shape as the tobacco grommet but about 1/3 the size.
Bottle base: Bases vary in design but most are suitable for your pipe if they fit. Make sure to always put cold water.
